Ebenezer Oni Akinbinu Ogunribido Obituary (1946

Ebenezer Oni Akinbinu Ogunribido, 72, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, IL. He was born October 6, 1946, to Chief Sawe Akintimehin Ogunribido and Madam Adeghibekun Ogunribido in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, Nigeria. He was the youngest of twenty-three children, six of which were from his mother. Ebenezer started his education in Nigeria, attending St. Peter's Anglican Primary School in 1955 and then Ondo Boys High School in 1960 and graduating in 1964. He then went on to continue his education in the United States graduating with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 1974 and an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1980. He joined the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria in 1983. He was a member of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers as well as the California Society of Professional Engineers. He was also a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. Ebenezer met Victoria Olajumoke Awosika in 1968 at an Ile-Oluji Association event. They married on August 9th, 1975 in Chicago, Illinois. Together they had 4 children; Theodore Ogunribido, Susan Moricette, Tom Ogunribido, and Yetunde Ogunribido. Victoria Ogunribido went to be with our Lord on January 2nd, 1990. Ebenezer started his professional career in Barclays Bank (now Union bank) in Lagos before he moved to America. In 1975, he began his lifetime career in the Engineering industry, staring with ACME in Chicago then moving to San Francisco, California where he worked for Bechtel Engineering. He moved his family to Nigeria in 1980 with an offer from Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Starting as a Pipeline Engineer, he moved up the ranks to Assistant Chief Engineer managing various pipeline projects. He was promoted to Depot Chief and served in that capacity at various locations from Makurdi to Enugu to Port Harcourt and Mosimi. He moved to Lagos where he was the Head of Project Engineers in Apapa. He was a supervisor in the Engineering Technical Department (E.T.D.). He retired from NNPC in 1996 as the Assistant Chief Engineer for PPMC (Product & Pipeline Marketing Company), the sector of NNPC that oversees the overall pipelines. He moved back to Chicago where he continued to utilize his Engineering skills with various Engineering firms and consulting Agencies. Ebenezer met Anthonia Oluwaranti Aduroja during a thanksgiving service event at an Anglican Church in Lagos in 1994. They got married in 1996 and raised 3 more children; Omowunmi Olarinde, Imoleayomi Olowookere, Ifeoluwa Ogunribido. Ebenezer enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved photography, videography, music, dancing and attending church. He was an active member of One-Five Association in Ile-Oluji, Klub Maservite in Ibadan and Club 2000, Ijesha Club, and Ondo Club in Chicago. Ebenezer is survived by his wife, Anthonia; children, Theodore, Susan, Tommy, Yetunde, Omowunmi, Imoleayomi, and Ifeoluwa; sisters, Madam Elizabeth Ademibo and Mrs. Christy Olambipo Aladedutire; 9 grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Ebenezer was preceded in death by his late wife, Victoria, his parents, 12 brothers and 8 sisters. Vistation will be 9:30a.m. until time of service at 10:30a.m. Saturday November 10, 2018.
